Biscuit!!! Rihanna: What's My Name f. Drake (Video); Jazmine Sullivan: 10 Seconds
YEAH.... I am FEELING this song very much! This is Rihanna's second single off of her upcoming album "Loud", due out November 16th. Thank you to Toronto's Aubrey Graham for lacing this record with a very sexy 16. Rih Rih? I need those knee highs and pumpum shorts in the worst way! Imagine me walking into a fete with that outfit on?? lol lol... Sigh, I wish.
This was a very entertaining video that was released for our viewing pleasure a few hours ago! Cutesy and sexy at the same time, Rihanna and Drake cuddle up on the couch with some white wine. Cut to Rihanna whining down on the street in her tights and heels... Wow. Additionally, I just didn't understand the drumming in the park under the red lights... Rihanna has her OWN red light district?? Ummmm.... Drake? I think your girlfriend's a hoe. Dump her. Immediately. You should have clued in when she was willing to mess with you in the dairy aisle of the corner store two minutes after meeting you.
Moving on...>>>
Jazmine Sullivan kills it again with her sultry and soulful vocals. I've been a fan ever since she broke out with her first solo debut single "Need U Bad" in mid 2008, with Missy and one of my all-time favorite producers, Salaam Remi, at the helm. "10 Seconds" is the first single off of her upcoming sophmore album, Love Me Back, due out November 30th, 2010.
Lesson from this vid? Don't ever cross a black woman, because she'll cut you...
Oooops, well, not cut you, but she will bruise something.
Anyways, ENJOY!

Biscuit!!! SPRAGGA BENZ – Red Dot Special (Rha-ta-ta-ta) ft. Swizz Beatz, Kardinal Offishall & Shabba Ranks
*INSERT CURLY AND TU LOX "SPRAGGA!" HERE!
Spragga's new album and documentary are called "Shotta Culture" and are expected to drop August 31, 2010. The first official single released was the title track "Shotta Culture", produced by one of my favorite musicians, Salaam Remi. The video, seen below, was directed by Ras Kassa (same person who directed Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley's "Welcome to Jamrock" video.) There is so much back story to this project and Spragga Benz will definitely be sharing his story once the documentary comes out. In an interview conducted last August, Spragga spoke to DancehallUSA.com about what to expect:
...."It’s a 90-minute documentary and I will be candidly talking about everything about Jamaica – gang violence, politics. We nah glamourise it but we a speak pon all these things[.]”
Spragga's son, Carlton Grant Jr., was killed in a shoot out with Jamaican police in 2008. While this project was being completed, Spragga felt the need to include elements of the aftermath of his son's death, including the court case, in the documentary:
...."We want to include the trial. We want to put the full story in it. Show seh the law do its job, if it do it job[.]”
This movie will be about Spragga's life and should feature many recognizable faces, such as Stephen Marley and Buju Banton. I can't wait!
Hit them with music, Rasta! Welcome back, Spragga!
Enjoy!!

DOCUMENTARY!!! MTV's "Drake: Better than Good Enough"
*** Hello lovelies and lovers!! Been gone for a while but I had to re-evaluate what I wanted to do with my site. I've come up with a few ideas and I can't wait to share them with you all later on. For now, I'll start with my love for music industry-based documentaries. I'd like to begin the exposure with tonight's post. In brief, this is an hour-long documentary chronicling Drake's last few days on his "Away from Home" tour before the release of Thank Me Later. This aired on MTV on June 23rd, but I haven't watched this in full just yet. As soon as I finish, I'll share my thoughts with you! Please enjoy!! PS: please allow the vid to load or finish buffering, there's a lot of traffic watching the same thing. Please be patient :) ***

Toronto Talent!!! VYBZ KARTEL - TEK BUDDY 2010 (JESTERDAMUS REMIX)
Here come's the brand new flava in ya ear!!! LOL Yeah, I'm old school like that! Now, if you are looking at the person in the photo above and you don't recognize him, SHAME! Shame on you for admitting that you don't know him. Now that I've shamed you, i'll continue with the presentation ;o)
This is Toronto's Jester, and as he's been branded by the populous, he's NOT A JOKE. This man is a beast on the one's and two's, spinning everything under the sun and making it work. Reggae, Soca, House, Hip-Hop and R&B are just some of the specialties dished out to the masses. His latest creation is fresh from the lab "....after months of tweeking," according to his blog thisisjester.com. Taking the infamous Kartel song "Tek Buddy" and mashing it up with an electro loop, Jester elevates his talent yet again.
You can hear Jester on University of Toronto's CIUT 89.5fm every Thursday morning from 5:30-8am (Worldwide Wake Up Show) and occasionally on Toronto's Flow 93.5fm.
Keep reppin the Dot, Jester! Always stay true to your craft and to the music! I salute you :o)

"Fire" - Jah Chosen (produced by King D. of Living Proof Enterprises)

You know when something just makes you think, "That's different."
Jah Chosen follows the Most High, but don't get confused by his ideological tenets. This artist is unlike any other reggae artist I've ever heard. The first time I heard "Fire", Jah Chosen's debut single from his upcoming promotional release (via lvproof.com), I had to pull it up a couple of times. Is it house or is it reggae?? Where did this artist come from??
Toronto, stand up!! As Jay-Z said, clap for them. Jah Chosen and King D. come with it on this record. "Fire" is a testimony to all things hot to the touch. If you only think its about sparking a blunt, then you'll need to listen a few more times. The way I see it, when Chosen says to "...blaze it up," he's talking about lighting up the world using the fire within. More than that, this song is a pure party tune!!
What else separates Jah Chosen as an up and coming reggae artist out of Toronto?
Well, who else would film their video for a reggae song on a beach in Southern Ontario?? A-Channel casts a spotlight on Jah Chosen's video shoot for "Fire":

"Hold It Up" - Mayne Ishu (Produced by King D. of Living Proof Enterprises)

Rap music produced by Torontonians has been lacking lately. Now, I am not a connoisseur of rap, but I am one that has an appreciation for good music. That being said, I heard a track called "Hold It Up" the other day. I am a huge fan of anything mashed up with reggae. Samples that are used wisely make the hairs on my arms stand up. Living Proof Production's King D. used Everton Blender's "Lift Up Your Head" for this song and turns a classic into a classic, if you know what I mean. Now, maybe i'm just gushing because I loved Everton's version to begin with. If positivity were to rain down, it would fall on my head to the melody of that song.
But I digress.
Mayne Ishu's record is, in my opinion, a welcome distraction from the everyday, formulaic raps pumped out by Toronto's underground. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of how one man's struggle trumps another man's luck. The way I understand it is like this: If you laugh when something big falls in your lap, you've only gotten half the joke. Hard work and perseverance will give you a head's up above the rest.
A message to all of you who sit in VIP and point your gun fingers when your track comes on in the club: Take a minute to think about the possibility that someone else is in the middle of the dance floor, with the crowd of people who put HIS record in the hands of that same DJ.
Hold your head up high, Mayne Ishu. Your time is here.
