Soooooooo.... You are walking around your favorite store *cough*WINNERS*cough* and you run into that one person you absolutely cannot stand to idly chat with. A bigger person would stand there and hold back the rolling eyes while grunting out the obligatory "Hey!" and side hug.... Is that person ME?? Yes.
But wait!! During my nightly net browse, I run across the above photo on SlipperyBrick.com and, all of a sudden, such AWKWARD social exchanges are no longer a problem!!!
Now, all I need is a Samsung phone and the ability to stop time. That way, I can switch my SIM card out of my Blackberry Bold 9780 and into the new device. Then, I will resume time and "call myself" so that I can excuse myself from the lack luster conversation. Why stop time and do the switcheroo instead of just using that pause in the space-time continuum to run in the opposite direction?? Simple - I want to savor the moment where I am shaming the individual who is standing in front of me by taking a "call" that is more important than me speaking to a shallow waste of oxygen.
If you, my faithful reader, ever caught the intro credits to HBO's "How to Make It in America," then you had an idea where this song came from (if not, i suggest youtubing some of the episodes because that show was amazingly entertaining.) I fell in love with the artist behind the theme song when I found out who he was:
Just as I log onto Twitter for the evening to check out what my favorite celebs and wannabes are saying, I see a post from Kanye West. If anyone remembers a small story from a few days back about Kanye commissioning a jeweler to make a watch with his face inside, then this twitter BLAST will squash all rumors! There's more than a watch - quelling Britney Spears and Taylor Swift rumors, along with news about his new single with Jigga, H.A.M., reaching #2 on the iTunes downloads chart.
This is what I love about Twitter: there is an opportunity for everyone to show who they are (or who they want to be) without the FLUFF. 140 characters or less, people. Succinct and efficient.
The end of the year 2010 is fast approaching and soon there will be a multitude of countdowns and top 10 lists and reviews of celebs who behaved like idiots. I doubt i'll remember much of the past year in enough detail to review it or reminisce, but i will try to recap the last few months' worth of my favorite music in a small post.
My top tunes for Summer and Fall 2010 in no particular order:
1) Go Dung and Big Hail - Di Hypa Dawg, Lil Rick (love the Go Dung Rain Mix especially)
2) Khago - Nah Sell Out pt 2. (It haaaaaard! Big hail to all my REAL friends.)
3) Roman's Revenge - Roman Zolanski f. Marshall Mathers (Eminem spaaaazzzed out. I'm not the biggest hip hop fan by any means but "quit hollering 'why god!' He aint got nothing to do with it...." Hm. Swizzy's beat was complimented nicely by these alter egos - what an odd pair.)
4) Everybody - Rupee (Just makes me feel nice... seriously.) 5) Any G.O.O.D. Music and G.O.O.D Friday release so far. Power (have you heard the remix where Yeezy had a bout of Tourettes at the end and said whatever came to his brain???) Monster, Runaway, So Appalled, Take One For the Team, Chain Heavy... I've loved Ye from way back, but this sh*t Right HEEEERE?? lol (Kat Williams reference... i miss that man's original material... Sigh.) 6) Is This Love - Corinne Bailey Rae (I don't usually approve of Bob Marley covers, but i like this one.)
7) Paaaalaaaaaance! - JW and Blaze (No comments necessary. Dun know.)
8) Clarks - Vybz Kartel f. Popcaan and Gaza Slim (This is where the now-crazed greeting "Wha gwaaaan, PopCaaaaaaaaaaaan!" came from. Oh! If you haven't seen this viral vid by now, check it out. This is Orville Hall aka Jamaican Rude Boy performing a "Clarks Walk" demonstration...)
9) Miguel f. J. Cole - All I Want is You (Smooth. Really smooth.)
10) Rick Ross - B.M.F. f. Styles P. (As a friend once described this album, so shall i describe it here: Hip Hop served in a brandy glass and presented on a coaster.)
